Max Cleland is an American Democratic politician and veteran of the U.S. Army who served as a U.S. Senator for the state of Georgia from 1997 to 2003. Prior to this, Cleland served as the 23rd Secretary of State of Georgia and Administrator of Veterans Affairs under President Carter. Cleland also spent time in the Georgia Senate from 1971 to 1975.Max Cleland.
