In response to both insulting language from individual bloggers and verified reports being published regarding Kash Patel's unprofessional behavior as Director of the FBI Patel has filed numerous lawsuits ranging from claims of slander and journalistic misconduct. These lawsuits misinform the public through their unverified accusations while threatening journalistic integrity and freedom. This serves as an example of a disturbing trend in which politicians file misinformative lawsuits as retribution against people practicing free speech and major press publications. These lawsuits cause reputational damage, regardless of the truth of their claims and are clear attempts to intimidate those who publicly criticize government officials. More

Tensions among Florida's Republican gubernatorial candidates have escalated to questionable legal actions. A lawsuit brought by gubernatorial hopeful James Collins sought to remove James Fishback from the upcoming Republican primary based on the grounds that Fishback did not meet Florida residency requirements. This claim was proven false in a court of law, citing Fishback's previous history of residency and current his residency in Florida. Collins false claim that Fishback lacked the necessary gubernatorial qualifications misinformed his supporter base, and opened the window to future legal crusades against his political opponents based on misinformation. Our current president has a well established history of hyperbolic language to emphasize political success, and his revisionist statements regarding economic success during his first term has misinformed the public. His description of his first term's economy as the greatest economy America has ever seen is opposed to the opinion of financial experts who have repeatedly described his first term's economy as tumultuous and ending on a poor note with the COVID-19 pandemic. During an interview with Oliver Larkin, a Fox News host asked a question about pedophilia within immigrant communities, and Oliver Larkin began to talk about how if they were going to discuss pedophilia, they need to hold the White House accountable for not releasing the full Epstein files. Upon saying this, the network quickly took the interview off air. Actions like this suggest that instead of trying to have a discussion, certain networks are more concerned about their relationship with the administration, and pushing their own agenda. More

This is troubling news because RFK Jr. is the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, so many people are likely to trust his statements about public health. If those statements exaggerate or misrepresent scientific research, they can mislead the public about important health issues such as fertility and reproductive health. Misinformation from high-ranking officials can also reduce trust in medical experts and make it harder for people to know what information is accurate when making health decisions. More

People are theorizing that this donation could have influenced the FDA's decision, and questioning if their products really are safe to eat. This is dangerous, because it really showcases how the general public is unable to trust government at the moment. More

This is concerning because false claims about election fraud can undermine public trust in the democratic process. When people believe elections are rigged without credible evidence, they may lose confidence in election results, become more politically divided, and be less likely to participate in future elections. Repeating these claims through major news coverage also allows misinformation to reach a large audience, making it harder for accurate information to correct false beliefs. More

In a July 16 primetime address, President Trump claimed that U.S. intelligence agencies had kept secret evidence that China stole 220 million American voter files and used it to interfere in elections, and that the 2020 election contained widespread fraud. However, Trump's own Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency concluded in 2020 that the election was the most secure in American history. Election experts noted the released documents contained no new evidence of a single fraudulent vote, and the Senate Intelligence Committee stated intelligence agencies had already concluded China did not alter any votes. FactCheck.org confirmed no new evidence of widespread fraud was presented in the speech. More
