PolitiFact declared Brian Mast's statement that "10 to 30 cents on the dollar" from U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) funding actually goes to aid as fake news. According to a January 2024 USAID report, 12.1% of the agency’s funds were directly allocated to local organizations in foreign countries. However, this doesn’t mean the remaining 88% isn’t used to help those in need. Most of the remaining funds go to international organizations, including U.S.-based companies, which use the money to deliver food, medicine, and services abroad. Mast’s claim misrepresents how the funds are allocated and used for aid. More

While the article claims that al-Hol is “widely viewed as a breeding ground for extremism,” it does not mention the dire humanitarian conditions in the camp, such as food shortages and lack of medical care. This omission makes the issue seem purely about terrorism rather than also being a humanitarian crisis. The article also describes the SDF as a “U.S.-backed Kurdish-led force,” which is accurate but lacks nuance. The SDF is not solely Kurdish—it includes Arab and other ethnic groups. Framing it as “Kurdish-led” can reinforce a misleading narrative that ignores the multi-ethnic nature of the force and its broader regional support. More

The article discusses L.A. Mayor Karen Bass appointing former L.A. Police Commissioner Steve Soboroff to lead the wildfire rebuilding efforts. It highlights his $500,000 salary for three months of work and implies that this amount is excessive and unnecessary. However, the article fails to mention that the funding does not come from the government but rather from philanthropic groups and independent donors. Instead, it suggests—without clarification—that the money is sourced from taxpayers or charitable funds, creating a misleading impression about the funding’s origin. More

The article titled "Democrats Waging ‘Holy War’ as Trump Ends 50 Years of Affirmative Action Tyranny," published by the New York Post, discusses President Trump’s recent decision to fire two commissioners of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The New York Times referred to this action as a "late-night purge," while the New York Post claims that Democrats will launch a legal “holy war” to overturn the decision. The article frames the firings as a response to what it describes as over 50 years of the EEOC imposing quotas on American businesses, schools, and institutions. However, instead of providing substantive evidence, the article primarily highlights quotes from individuals who have opposed the EEOC for decades. It also discusses DEI initiatives and references a legal dispute involving female-only health clubs that allegedly had their civil rights violated by the EEOC—though these complaints date back to the 1990s. Notably, the article never provides any evidence of Democratic politicians actively waging a legal fight against Trump’s decision, nor does it substantiate its claim that the EEOC acted dishonestly. Instead, the piece relies on a hyperbolic and abrasive headline that lacks factual support, seemingly designed for clickbait and engagement rather than objective reporting. More
