‘We Can Do as We Want, People Don’t Care’: Trump Threatens to Deploy Military Nationwide — and a Third Term
The title of this news article hints at Trump deploying the military across the US and threatening to run for a third term. The article pulls quotes from a talk he gave on the USS George Washington in Japan. In this speech, he discusses how his deployment of the National Guard in Washington, DC, brought crime rates down to "almost nothing." He later stated that he will "clean out" more American cities and eliminate "the bad ones." Trump also claimed that Americans were no longer against seeing paramilitary forces deployed in their neighborhoods. While there are mixed feelings amongst American citizens regarding the National Guard, studies show that Republicans are far more in support than Democrats, so to claim that Americans as a whole are no longer against such forces being deployed is a false claim. Although crime numbers have dropped significantly since the deployment of the National Guard in D.C., and Trump has stated that he will be sending American troops to more cities across the U.S., to enforce his "crackdowns" on crime and immigration, the talk of a third term is unfounded and a false claim as well. Other news outlets have proven that discussion of a third term is out of line and not something that Trump is considering or is even legal for him to do.

Just from the title itself, the title is entirely misleading. President Trump has already stated that a third term is entirely out of the question, and this article further pushing the narrative that he has not said it is incredibly misleading. Your analysis of the National Guard is a very good one, and presented facts I had not thought about before hand. Thank you so much for sharing! Read Less
