However, this has not been the case with this specific article, which may mislead the public into thinking this is the consensus across the entire nation. There are significant groups of people within the United States that support the ongoing shutdown because they are against the democrats, and MSNBC's cemented left-wing perspective makes it seem like this is false. The writing also feels very colloquial, as if the author, Steve Benen, was talking to a friend and complaining. Phrases like "(Support for the reform law reached 66% in June, making it more than 20 points more popular than the president who hates it, and raising the question of whether the president is just jealous.)" and "but the president want Democrats, who have minimal power and even less influence in the nation’s capital, to fix the health care problem that Trump and his GOP allies have helped create."
