This will help to tackle some of the corruption and classism in politics, while also still allowing individuals to make their voices heard by donating money to campaigns. It will also help to level the playing field by preventing candidates from only catering to their wealthy donors and special interests. There will be less pressure to solely follow the opinions of those with the most money.  Less

No matter the political party, I think that campaigns need to state clearly where they got the money, from whom, how it was used, how much of it was used, etc. I think all this information needs to be given in detail so concerned citizen and watch groups can check for any irregularities.  Less

Not every candidate, especially a first-time candidate, is wealthy or a fundraising prowess. Publicly-funded campaigns can allow all candidates to start out with a solid floor. However, I still think it's important for candidates to eventually show that they have strong fundraising skills. In many races, the candidates that show strong grassroots support win elections.  Less
