Ultimately, I don’t have a general answer, but I do think that the answer could be “Yes” or “No” on a case-by-case basis. Certain factors influence the appropriateness of international intervention, such as whether the government of the country experiencing the crisis is unwilling or unable to help its citizens, whether the crisis may influence and destabilize other countries, whether certain types of intervention could be more harmful to the situation, and so on. I do think that the more involved the country hosting the crisis can be, the more beneficial an intervention is likely to be. Read Less

However, it’s not so simple to swoop in with aid. What seems like a straightforward humanitarian deed can quickly become entangled in complex political and wartime dynamics. An act of goodwill can easily be manipulated and used as a cover for more overt schemes. Read Less

It takes a lot of government aid in order to do so, so I chose maybe. If we decide to intervene then it can result in conflict with a countries sovereignty, but the global stage also has an obligation to prevent situations like these such as genocide or famine. Making it very difficult to balance a situation like this. Read Less

Or how to define a humanitarian crisis? If it was decided by a panel similar to the united nations It could be effective. There is also the concern of overstepping on nations sovereignty. So I think that there should be efforts to work towards an easier way to step in and help countries going through a humanitarian crisis. Read Less

Yes, I think it is ethical for other countries to step in and help when they know people are suffering in other countries, and they could potentially provide support to help them.
