In 1953, it was purchased by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) to serve as their flagship station in New York. Today, the station is owned by Red Apple Media, a company led by billionaire businessman John Catsimatidis, who bought the station to keep local talk radio alive. Today, 77 WABC is run by a lineup of popular talk show hosts and is mainly focused on political commentary, breaking news, and current events. They are based in New York City, broadcasting right from Manhattan. They are known for covering the actions of the Mayor and the Governor, as well as discussing major national political stories.
