Asaase Radio launched in Accra on 99.5 FM in June 2020, published by Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited, and has since built a network with Asaase 98.5 in Kumasi, Asaase 100.3 in Cape Coast, Asaase 99.7 in Tamale and AsaasePa 107.3 in Accra, plus around nine affiliate stations across Ghana. Its board chair and founder is Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a corporate lawyer, senior partner at Africa Legal Associates and executive chairman of the Africa Prosperity Network, who also owns the newspaper The Statesman. Other board members include the veteran journalist Elizabeth Akua Ohene, literature professor Kojo Opoku Agyeman, Nkiru Balonwu, journalist Kojo Mensah, Joseph Ofori-Atta and Ebow Brew-Hammond. The network describes its identity as Pan-African and its editorial approach as substance over sensationalism, with Otchere-Darko stating it is not the station's job "to seek to change regimes." Today, Asaase Radio is mainly focused on Ghanaian national politics and parliament, economic and fiscal policy, African trade integration and the continental single market, business and mining, entertainment and Ghanaian music, and sport, from their studios in Accra, Ghana. One interesting fact: the flagship Accra station was taken off air by the National Communications Authority in June 2025, days before its fifth anniversary. Otchere-Darko announced the shutdown himself on social media and attributed it to the station having delayed renewing its broadcasting licence the previous year.
