CNC3 launched on 26 September 2005 as Cable News Channel 3, built by Guardian Media Limited to extend a newspaper and radio operation into television. The parent company traces to September 1917, when the newly formed Trinidad Publishing Company put out the first Trinidad Guardian, and it added the Trinidad Broadcasting Company's radio stations in 1947. The station took the slogan "Covering your world" and operates from the Guardian building on St Vincent Street, broadcasting over the air on channels 12 and 14 and on the FLOW cable system on channel 3. Guardian Media Limited is the media arm of ANSA McAL, the Trinidadian conglomerate owned by the Sabga family, and is listed on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange. Peter Clarke is chairman, Gerhard Pettier managing director since November 2024, and Kaymar Jordan managing editor. Group revenue was TT$97.9 million in 2024. Today, CNC3 is mainly focused on Trinidad and Tobago news, government and parliament, crime, business, sport and weather, broadcast on television with a livestream, mobile app and traffic camera service, alongside simulcasts of Al Jazeera and CNN International, from their base in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. One interesting fact: The station still broadcasts over the air in standard definition. It uses NTSC transmission, which supports only 480i, so its terrestrial signal cannot carry high definition regardless of what it produces.
CNC3 is ranked N/A among other media sources and has an average of 72,000 monthly visits according to
