Java Code Geeks was started around 2010 by Ilias Tsagklis, a software engineer at Intracom Telecom, and a colleague, initially as a hobby before both left their jobs to run it full time. It is published by Exelixis Media P.C., a Greek online media company Tsagklis co-founded, and anchors a small network alongside Web Code Geeks, System Code Geeks and .NET Code Geeks. Content comes from three sources: staff and regular contributors writing under their own names, including Eleftheria Drosopoulou, Yatin Batra and Omozegie Aziegbe; a JCG partners programme that syndicates posts from independent developer blogs; and an open guest-writer scheme. The site claims over 500 authors. Beyond the main tutorial archive, which runs to more than 1,800 pages, it operates separate examples, courses and deals subdomains, publishes minibooks, and runs a newsletter offering free ebooks. It remains live and publishing daily, with items dated August 2026. Today, Java Code Geeks is mainly focused on core and enterprise Java tutorials, Spring and Spring Boot, Hibernate and JPA, Android development, JVM languages including Kotlin and Scala, JavaScript frameworks, DevOps and Docker, and software engineering explainers on topics such as distributed systems and technical debt, from their base in Greece. One interesting fact: the site carries a standing disclaimer stating that it is not connected to or sponsored by Oracle Corporation, which owns the Java trademark, a defensive notice that has sat in its footer for most of its sixteen years.
