Founded in 1914 by the students of Davidson College, The Davidsonian came into being to provide the campus with a true weekly newspaper. The idea sparked when the students realized that their previous publication, a monthly literary magazine, was too slow to keep up with campus events and sports scores. They decided to launch a weekly paper to ensure students, faculty, and alumni could stay connected with up-to-date news. Today, the newspaper is still a student-run organization, owned and supported by Davidson College. Today, The Davidsonian is run by a dedicated staff of student editors and writers and is mainly focused on campus news, college sports, and student life. They are based in Davidson, North Carolina, located directly on the college campus. They cover everything happening within the college community, including student government decisions, arts and entertainment, and the Davidson Wildcats athletic teams. One interesting fact: A unique fact about The Davidsonian is its incredible longevity and preservation.
