More Americans in new poll think companies benefit from legal immigration
This is a great article, but the author snuck in many phrases that could be very bias. For example, “Subjecting green card applicants to ‘anti-Americanism’ screening”, The phrase “subjecting” suggests hostility or unfairness. Also, putting “anti-Americanism” in quotes without context makes the policy sound vague or absurd, which may tilt perception rather than neutrally explain what the screening entails. In addition, there is also some selective context and slight misinformation, such as, “Americans continue to see fewer benefits [from illegal immigration] and more risks, including crime.” This is presented as fact from the poll but lacks context: decades of crime data show immigrants (legal or not) commit fewer crimes than native-born Americans. Without that context, the poll responses risk reinforcing a misperception.
