There is so much biodiversity under pressure from pollution, climate change, and even overfishing, creating protected areas would give marine life the space to recover and rebuild. A coordinated global approach ensures that protection becomes part of a consistent effort to keep the world's oceans alive and functioning for future generations. Less

While a fully "global" network is not really feasible, coordinated partnerships (both regional and across oceans) could protect vulnerable ecosystems and promote the conservation of biodiversity without requiring every nation in the world to commit to the exact same system. Basically, this approach allows countries to work together, where it makes sense to, to help and protect marine ecosystems. Less
