Firstly, it is important to recognize that immigrants do play an important role in our nation. They significantly increase economic growth and work productivity. They are able to fill roles that American citizens are not. However, it is equally important to recognize that there must be some limits on immigration levels. Although it may sound cruel, immigrants can place great strain on a nation’s health care and social safety net programs. There needs to be a certain balance where the positives outweigh the negatives. This has been an issue that Europe is currently grappling with. As immigration levels on the continent have begun to spike, many nations regardless of left-wing or right-wing governments have begun a clamp down on immigration levels. Read Less
