However, I don’t think it is the duty of say the United Nations to intervene in individual nations. But there should be a multi-lateral approach to fixing the problem since the coming decades may see mass unemployment depending on how fast AI advances and how different industries react to technological advancements. This will increase the need for highly skilled workers while reducing the numbers needed and, if properly implemented, will increase productivity and lower prices dramatically. Few, if any lower skilled production jobs will remain. The need for skilled service and professional workers will rise but their pay may not since displaced production workers will be motivated to train and compete for such jobs. Existing markets for sports, entertainment and artisanal production can be made much broader and flexible while greatly expanded training and development can enable all displaced workers to find rewarding employment within those expanded markets. Without basic global coordination all these markets will be unbalanced and vast numbers of people will be forced to migrate without regard to laws and borders simply to find a way to survive in the resulting chaos.
