The poll is merely asking if, under the framework of “protecting public health”, global standards on air quality are necessary. I can’t see a strong answer to the contrary. Having these international standards would inevitably improve public health; the real question is whether it is worth the costs, if it is feasible, and if it can be enforced. Read Less

The global air quality standards that have already been issued seem like they would actually be pretty effective at minimizing pollution risks to public health. The problem is that it appears that not a single country is adhering to all the recommended levels of pollutants in the air. That’s the main problem here. It’s not that we need stricter standards; we need a means of enforcing them. Read Less

    I honestly don’t know much about this topic, but I’m guessing that improving air quality would impact industry, which means more regulations might be necessary.
