He later earned his J.D. from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. where he remained working as a lawyer for a period of time. After unsuccessfully running for the Rhode Island State Senate, he ran successfully for the Rhode Island State House of Representatives. He worked in this position from 1995-2003. He became the mayor of Providence from 2003-2011. He then successfully ran for the United States House of Representatives from Rhode Island's in 2011. During his time in the House of Representatives, he served as both Chair and Co-Chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee from 2017 until present. David Cicilline is 63 years old.
