Dianne was born in San Francisco. She was appointed very young to be a part of the Women's Board of Parole by the Governor at the time, Pat Brown. Later on she served as a part of the Committee on Crime as well as serving as president of the San Francisco Board Of Supervisors. Feinstein unsuccessfully ran for mayor twice in the years 1971 and 1975. Despite her two losses, she eventually became mayor in after the tragic assassination of the previous mayor. After serving as mayor, she was successfully elected as mayor and served this role until 1988. She unsuccessfully ran for governor but successfully ran for US Senate and won.
