However, I would need to see research, such as peer-reviewed studies or papers, proving that these assumed accents are detrimental. Individuals can pick up accents from the people that they interact with in real-life, too. For instance, someone who grew up in Michigan and then moves south as an adult can pick up a southern accent after a prolonged stay. Having an accent is not detrimental, generally, unless the accent is so strong as to make the individual unable to be understood by others. Read Less

In order to fully flesh out a believable argument to this claim, a longitudinal study would need to be conducted in order to assess long-term impacts of technology on children. However, this is not possible as intense screen time is a relatively new development for children. Read Less
