Mass Immigration Turned Europe Unlivable. America Is Next.
Honestly, this article is deeply concerning. The amount of fear-based propaganda is extraordinary. It’s also quite revealing in its religious discrimination, especially against Muslims. First of all, Europe isn’t unlivable because of immigrants—the real issues are the lack of housing and the rising cost of food. With limited land and densely packed cities, many European countries have struggled to house their own citizens since the early 2000s. The article opens with the line: “Now that a critical mass of voters in our largest city have decided to support a socialist Muslim rapper from Uganda who openly despises every founding principle of this country…” a sentence loaded with xenophobic, Islamophobic, and racially charged implications. It then goes on to make wild claims that New York, under this so-called "Muslim socialist" ideology, would “eliminate the police department,” “nationalize the grocery stores,” and “fund sex changes for children.” These statements are not only exaggerated but have no grounding in actual policy proposals. To claim that New York would become “completely uninhabitable” under such a platform is irresponsible. Rather than promoting discussion or understanding, this kind of rhetoric fuels fear, division, and misinformation.

Even in the opening lines, referring to a NY Assemblyman, mayoral candidate, and US Citizen as a “socialist Muslim rapper from Uganda” is indicative of the tone. Then going on to say that you could show Mamdani’s platform to “the most dedicated comissar in the Soviet Union, and he’d tell you to go easy on the Karl Marx” is wildly inflammatory (and also probably not true). Additionally, saying “touch some grass” in a published piece is crazy.
I think news outlets have been thinking they can get away with this kind of shoddy “journalism” by slapping the designation of an opinion piece on it. From my perspective, a news outlet is still meant to inform with integrity, to add something valuable to a reader’s knowledge base, even if it is an opinion piece. I think opinion pieces, particularly on a platform as big as Daily Wire, should be written by experts on an issue, or at least people with direct, extensive, and personal anecdotal experience. Matt Walsh is a talk show host and influencer, and a religious author. Not an immigration lawyer, not a professor on socialism in America, not even a New Yorker. It’s not journalism, it’s fearmongering. Read Less
