Trump Made Five False Claims in One Meeting with Erdogan

Why Troubling News:

During a press appearance alongside Turkish President Erdogan before a NATO summit in Ankara on July 7, 2026, President Trump made multiple false claims in a single sitting. Among the most significant, Trump claimed the US gave Ukraine "hundreds of billions of dollars worth of equipment" under Biden. CNN confirmed this is a significant exaggeration; total US military aid to Ukraine from January 2022 through April 2026 was approximately $74 billion, not hundreds of billions. Trump also claimed credit for ending wars that have not fully ended, including listing the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict as a resolved situation despite the US and Israel having started a new war against Iran in 2026. Making multiple verifiably false statements on the world stage at a NATO summit, where they reach foreign governments and international audiences, is particularly troubling because those claims shape diplomatic relationships and public understanding of US foreign policy in real time.

It is insane the amount of lying that has happened under this administration, and it's gotten to the point where it's so common that nobody seems to bat an eye anymore.
