I would want to be sure they are taking action on both sides of the aisle and not blocking content they just don’t agree with. I think there is a fine line between the government getting involved versus the government having control over the media, so such a process would need to be heavily monitored and the pubic would have to be trusting as well. Read Less

Supreme Court precedent has historically used the highest standard of scrutiny to judge similar cases and so I would say that it makes sense that where the interest is compelling, and the least restrictive alternative is used the government has a right to regulate media platforms. Read Less

Specific regulations and methods would have to be mentioned and discussed however to get exact details or see if they’d be effective. There would also need to be something in place to make sure that misinformation regardless of its source or bias is curbed so that these regulations don’t specifically target one side while ignoring the other. Another thing to consider is the fact that the internet is massive and connects the entire world. No matter how masterfully crafted new guidelines are, some misinformation may still slip through the cracks so to speak. Because of this, the most widespread fake information, or those most partisan and radical that could incite people to act out in real life may have to be prioritized over other incidents of misinformation. Read Less

It is necessary to further deliberate the boundaries within which the government can perform its regulations. Read Less

The government should not censor anyone, but should place greater emphasis on sources, marking posts with potential misinformation as having misinformation, like Instagram fact checkers.

Yes, though I acknowledge that this could be a slippery slope. We need to ensure there’s no bias in the algorithm that sorts the information/misinformation.
