These organizations have some of the worst carbon emissions. Due to this, it is necessary for the government to regulate them. I believe that it is crazy to expect companies to switch to green operations out of good will. The truth is that most will always chose to maximize profits even if it negatively impacts the planet. This means that it falls on the government to ensure that they are doing their part to protect our collective home. Read Less

Many organizations/businesses contribute greatly to carbon emissions, toxic waste disposal, and other forms of pollution without being held accountable. There are laws that state coal mining companies must restore the land they disturbed, which can/should be expanded to incorporate other groups. That being said, these laws are barely enforced as is, creating an even larger environmental issue. Those that suffer from environmental degradation also tend to be minorities or those living in impoverished areas (including prisoners). Corporations take advantage of both the land they operate on and those who lack the opportunity to relocate. Stricter regulations ensure that the world we live in and the citizens the government seeks to protect are adequately taken care of. Read Less
