The gig workers are arguably the most vulnerable as their livelihoods are based on temporary work and many businesses already have fire-at-will rules to begin with. The federal government ought to pass laws that clearly outline provisions in all temporary work that can let the worker know they are protected for as long as the contract is in effect and that they cannot be removed at a drop of the hat. Yes, as their jobs are usually temporary I think it is very important for governments to interfere here and pass on laws that protect gig economy workers.
