Former prisoners often struggle to reintegrate back into society because of issues of getting employment, housing, and getting up-to-date on the changes in the world. This makes it harder for them to become productive members of society and can cause them to end up back in prison. A worldwide effort would help prisoners not fall into that cycle and make them productive members since so much is stacked against them after going to prison. Read Less

I am a staunch supporter of upholding the law and being tough on crime. Having said that, if someone is in jail for something small like smoking pot, that sentence should be commuted and they should be brought back into society. They are threat to civil society and it would be deeply irresponsible for the government to release them. Read Less

However, this effort would have to go deeper than just waiting after they’re released. An issue like this should be handled while the prisoner is behind bars so that they develop skills and can find employment, thus simplifying their rehabilitation. So, in my opinion, this question is a yes for me. Read Less

I think if a prisoner is in jail for a severe crime for something like sexual assault or murder, it is genuinely a security issue for society. I don’t think someone who have committed such crimes can be rehabilitated. However, if it is a lighter crime, then I definitely think that rehabilitation is possible. Read Less
