David Cicilline was born in Rhode Island and grew up to attend Brown University studying Political Science. He later earned his J.D. from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. where he remained working as a lawyer for a period of time. After unsuccessfully running for the Rhode Island State Senate, he ran successfully for the Rhode Island State House of Representatives. He worked in this position from 1995-2003. He became the mayor of Providence from 2003-2011. He then successfully ran for the United States House of Representatives from Rhode Island's in 2011. During his time in the House of Representatives, he served as both Chair and Co-Chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee from 2017 until present. David Cicilline.
